What Students Say About Ron…
Jordan F…..
“I started taking guitar lessons with Ron Black in 2004…and I wish I had started sooner! Since that first meeting I have acquired such a vast knowledge of music that there is simply not enough time left in the world to tell it all. I had signed up for guitar lessons…but I got that and so much more! I not only became a very competent guitar player, I also became very skilled at playing a synthesizer. Ron is a unique guitar teacher, he doesn’t just play guitar, he also knows the piano and the trumpet quite well. He not only taught me, but also guided me to where I wanted to go with music, which was to create it! Any guitar coach can show you how to play something pre-existing, it takes someone really special to show you how to venture into uncharted waters and invent something that’s never been heard before! His knowledge of music theory and so many instruments enabled me to write music for guitar, bass, piano, strings, horns and even vocal melodies and drum lines.
With Ron Black, music is no longer a theory, but a proven method, the Ron Black method! He writes all of his own teaching material which is hundreds of pages! He is able to help you find multiple ways of playing a song to play it easier, give it a different sound, or experiment and take it another direction to create a whole new song. To say that Ron is both a talented multi-instrumentalist and fantastic teacher would be an understatement! With his very creative charts there is simply no need for expensive textbooks that only scratch the surface of music! He is a confident professional who is charismatic and possesses endless talents! He makes the learning and practicing aspect fun for music! He shows you that you can learn something from anything and tries to base his teaching around the very music, YOU the student listens to. He does not treat you like a student either, but rather a fellow scholar discovering the endless mysteries of music! You work together as a team which is key in any teaching field, there are very few like him!
He uses his broad based background to help explain things in all sorts of terms so that everyone will understand. He is a maverick in music teaching! He will teach you to play just like YOUR IDOLS by using THEIR guitar riffs!
I strongly suggest working with Ron to not only explore your musical interests, but to also bring your Rock Star and real Guitar Hero dreams to life!”

“I started taking lessons without being able to play a single chord and within weeks to my first months I could hold and transition between chords. I was not only plucking individual strings but putting chords together in my favorite songs. Ron guides you through basic chord structures, by building parts of a chord and as the dexterity increases in the hand we would work up to playing the full chord while learning how each note works in it. It isn’t just about learning scales and playing them but understanding how each note fits into the chord and the piece as a whole.
Learning music and a new instrument is a challenge with great rewards that can bring years of happiness for you and the people in your life. The callouses never completely go away and the fun has only begun to manifest itself. Ron Black is patient, encouraging, and makes learning music and guitar fun whether you are beginning, intermediate, or advanced every step of the way. You will be playing your favorite songs, improvising, impressing dates, and entertaining family and friends through guitar and music.”

“My name is Connor Freeman and I am 15 years old. Ron Black has been my guitar “coach” for almost 6 years. Working with Ron is like working with an old friend who knows every lick, riff, and phrase you throw out between the two of you. The thing Ron has helped me to do with my music more than anything, is to be conversational in my playing, Ron is a great improviser which has sort of rubbed off on me, in that I now have a fairly good ear for keys and riffs etc. Ron has also more than anything helped me to expand my musical horizons, for example when I met Ron all I listened to was AC\DC and Led Zeppelin. Now, my most played songs on my iPod are from Miles Davis, Gram Parsons, Robert Johnson, Bob Marley, etc. The bottom line for me is, that Ron taught me to appreciate music and to understand the way it moves and feels. If you want to get more out of your learning experience than just learning your favorite songs then Ron is the guy.”
Thanks Ron,

“Ron Black is a very intelligent and fun teacher. You’ll learn from him all aspects of guitar and the way he teaches isn’t normal, well by the book anyway. Each lesson you will learn something new and he approaches each lesson with a sense of fun and interest. He can play all types of music, he listens and has answers to your questions when you need help. I have been taking lessons for around two years now and I can honestly say he is a great teacher with a good sense of humor and you would be hard pressed to find a better guitar teacher anywhere else”

What Parents Say About Ron…
Richard F….
My two teenage sons have had a life long passion for music. Their primary music instrument, from the beginning, was the guitar. Over the years they have had a number of guitar instructors, but none that come near the qualities of Ron Black. Mr. Black is an accomplished guitarist and musician in his own right. His ability to share his extensive experience and knowledge in a friendly give and take manner has resulted in a significant improvement of my sons’ technique, ability and music appreciation. I strongly urge anyone searching for an earnest talented mentor for their children’s guitar development to choose Ron Black. I could not be more pleased.
Sincerely,

Brad and I are very pleased with Mr. Black in giving Sam, our son, a great opportunity to play guitar and to learn from him. He’s a phenomenal and creative teacher. One thing we like about him his is coming over to our house to give lessons, which is unusual, and we love and enjoy hearing his music. He’s amazing!
Thanks for your great patience,
